Want to be a Digital Nomad in Thailand - Here's a visa for you.
Thailand is a destination favored by many digital nomads, however the lack of visa options also make it hard for many people to live and work legally in Thailand for an extended time.
But there is an option: a Long Term Residence Visa.
While the Long Term Residence Visa isn't specifically targetted towards digital nomads, some might meet the required criteria. And if you do, you might be able to get a 10-year visa that allows you to work and live in Thailand.
Requirements
Unlike many digital nomad visas offered by other countries, the Long Term Residence Visa is more targeted towards either retirees or high-earning workers.
But some digital nomads might find themself in the fortunate position to qualify.
Here are the different criteria:
- Earn $80,000/year for the last two years.
- Hold a Master’s Degree and earned no less than $40,000/year for the last two years.
- Have $1 Million in Financial Assets.
- Be Retired with a stable income (like a pension) of $80,000/year if you’re over 50.
- As a remote worker, you must work for at least three years at a publicly traded company or a company that generates at least $150 million in annual revenue.
While this isn't an option for everyone, it definetly opens the door for a certain demographic to live long term in Thailand.
