Eligibility
Only non-EU/EEA citizens can apply for the Digital Nomad Visa in Cyprus. Initially, Cyprus announced 100 digital nomad visas, but in March 2022, they increased it to 500.

To apply for the Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa, you’ll need to gather the following documents:
- Valid Passport: Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay in Cyprus.
- Passport-Sized Photos: Typically, two recent passport-sized photos are required.
- Proof of Remote Work:
- Provide evidence that your work involves telecommunications technology (remote work).
- A letter from your employer stating your remote work arrangement can be helpful.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV): Prepare a detailed CV outlining your professional background and skills.
- Letter of Intent: Write a letter explaining why you want to live and work in Cyprus as a digital nomad.
- Health Insurance: Show proof of valid health insurance coverage during your stay in Cyprus.

- Upon arrival in Cyprus, obtain a temporary residence permit from the Civil Registry and Migration Department in Nicosia.
In total, the entire process could take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks or more, depending on individual circumstances and administrative efficiency.
Taxes
Tax Exemption for Stays Less Than 183 Days:
- As a digital nomad in Cyprus, you can enjoy tax exemption if your stay is less than 183 days in a tax year.
- Beyond that duration, you will be required to pay taxes, as you’ll already be considered a tax resident.
Cyprus Tax Residency:
- If you reside in Cyprus for one or more periods that total exceed 183 days within the same tax year, you are considered a tax resident of Cyprus.
- However, this applies only if you are not a tax resident in any other country.
Progressive Tax Rates:
- The first €19,500 (approximately $19,113 USD) you earn is not taxed at all.
- After this threshold, the tax rate ranges from 20% to 35%.
- The highest rate applies to those earning more than €60,000/year (around $58,810 USD).
